    • This is the agreement between Eadweald, son of Oshere, and Cynethryth, widow of Ealdorman Æthelmod, about the land at Chart which Æthelmod her lord gave to her. It was bequeathed to Osberht, his brother’s son, if he outlived Cynethryth, but afterwards to no other relative; rather she should dispose of it after their days, as might be most right and most charitable for them both. Now Eadweald and Cynethryth have devised these conditions with their friends, as follows: If Eadweald live longer than Cynethryth, he is to give for the estate at Chart ten thousand. If he dies first, whichever of his children is alive is to pay the money and dispose of it as may be best for those who acquired it. There is not any relative of Æthelmod as near of kin as Eadweald, whose mother [was] his brother’s daughter. It is most proper that he should have the land, and his children after him, and so dispose of it as may seem most useful for those who have legally obtained it. + I, Ceolnoth, thorugh God’s Grace archbishop, confirm and write this with the sign of Christ’s cross + I, Æthelwold, bishop, agree(d) + I, William, bishop, agree(d) + I, Osmund, priest, agree(d) + I, Æthelwald, priest, agree(d) + I, Beornhelm, priest, agree(d) + I, Beornheah, priest, agree(d) + I, Eardwulf, priest, agree(d) + I, Æthelmund, priest [and] abbot, agree(d) + I, Sæfrith, priest, agree(d) + I, Beornhelm, priest, agree(d) + I, Eadgar, priest, abbas agree(d) + I, Elfstan, priest, agree(d) + I, Sigefrith, priest, agree(d) + I, Sigefrith, archdeacon, agree(d) + + I, Ealhstan, archdeacon, agree(d) + [I,] B[eo]rnnoth, archdeacon agree(d) + + + + + I, Ceolberht , priest [and] deacon, agree(d) + I, Wealdhelm, subdeacon, agree(d) + I, Tirwald subdeacon, agree(d) + I, Oba, minister, agree(d) + I, Beornhelm , priest [and] abbot, agree(d) + I, Sigemund, priest, agree(d) + I, Herefrith, priest, agree(d) + I, Wynhelm, archdeacon, agree(d) + I, Wynbeald, agree(d) + I, Wermund, agree(d)
